Mission accomplished for Christophe Chagnard’s daughters. They wanted to spend the Christmas break with a victory in the Coupe de France after the good things seen against Metz in the championship despite the defeat (20-36), it’s done. They logically took the upper hand over Celles-sur-Belle, the other D2 club in their group with Bègles (31-20), notably thanks to the efficiency in front of goal of certain players such as Lylou Borg (6/7) , Lina Colinot (5/6), Anna Lacuey (4/4) and Nahia Malharin (2/2). The round of 16 will be played on the weekend of January 11-12.
Dominating is not winning
The end of 2024 is less fun for the Pessacaises. Even if the Coupe de France was clearly not a priority objective for the club, the defeat on jet from 7 meters 5 seconds from the buzzer will leave regrets. Their opponent, Clermont, had gotten off to a better start, but as the quarter-hour mark approached, the locals took control and led the debates until the last minute. In a locked match where the defenses took precedence over the attacks, the conclusion was decided by a coin toss in money time, to the benefit of the visitors (23-24).
