The French manufacturer is said to have made a last minute offer to recruit the Scuderia Ferrari driver who has still not announced where he will be in 2025.

Carlos Sainz will no longer be Scuderia Ferrari driver next season. He will be replaced by Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes. But the Spaniard, who should keep his place on the grid, has still not announced where he will bounce back.

Two teams seemed to be holding the rope to welcome him, Williams and Audi, but a third team would have entered into negotiations with the Spaniard’s entourage, assures Motorsports this Monday. Alpine, which is looking for a replacement for Esteban Ocon, who has not been retained, has indeed made an offer this weekend in Spain.

This proposal would have been sent by Flavio Briatore, new executive advisor of the French team. The Italian, at the head of the Renault team in 2005 and 2006 when the Losange dominated the discipline but also driver agent, was seen this weekend in Barcelona in discussion with Carlos Sainz, the father of Charles’ teammate Leclerc.

Until recent days, the young Jack Doohan, Alpine’s reserve driver, seemed to be holding the rope to team up with Pierre Gasly, who should continue the adventure with the historic Dieppe brand. “I have a list of names to evaluate, but we have Gasly in the short term anyway. We will slowly see who his teammate will be. We follow a lot of young drivers, I’m not going to say who, but they are very good. We need to make the car faster and easier first, then we will think about the drivers,” Doohan’s manager Briatore told La Gazzetta dello sport.
