But OL, currently fifth in the Ligue 1 standings, was mainly demoted as a precautionary measure at the end of the 2024-2025 season. The legendary French football club could thus evolve into Ligue 2 by next season if the state of the accounts does not improve. Consequently, the Rhone club, still involved in the Europa League, will have to replenish the coffers in the coming months and should be forced to part ways with these best players (Rayan Cherki, Alexandre Lacazette, Georges Mikautadze and Malick Fofana).
