The Boston Red Sox and Juan Soto had a “productive” meeting this week, according to Sean McAdam of MassLive.com
McAdam added that the meeting between the star free agent, his agent Scott Boras and team management lasted three hours. Soto would have been impressed, but that this meeting mainly served as a presentation to the organization since there have not yet been discussions on the duration or value of a possible agreement.
Red Sox staff reporter Rob Bradford told Social Network X that he believes the organization’s dedication to attracting Soto “hasn’t been seen in a long time from them.”
Soto has already met with the Toronto Blue Jays. The Red Sox were next on his agenda, followed by the Mets and the New York Yankees.
He is undoubtedly the most coveted player on the autonomy market. He could deserve a ten-year contract comparable to that of Shohei Ohtani.
Soto, 26, averaged .288/.419/.569 with 41 homers and 109 RBIs in 157 games last season with the Yankees after playing for the San Diego Padres.
In seven seasons, he was named to the All-Star Game four times, won the Rage Bat five times and won the home run contest. He was an important piece of the Washington Nationals’ 2019 championship run.
