Anger has been brewing for several weeks among farmers. After a few sporadic actions here and there, the FDSEA and the Young Farmers of will demonstrate “on Monday November 18 throughout the territory and at the Three Borders”, they announced in a press release.

“There will be around fifteen demonstration points mainly in roundabouts. 500 farmers will be mobilized,” confides Julien Viville, president of JA 57. The main roads should therefore not be blocked. But it could well be the start of a much more disruptive series of moves. Many farmers are in favor of much more “radical” actions.

If there are many reasons for discontent (and concerns) (administrative simplification, financial support in the face of crises, etc.), the objective of the actions of November 18 aims to say “NO” to the EU/Mercosur free trade agreements while discussions are underway in Brussels.

Farmers denounce a “sieve Europe” and “refuse the importation of food whose production methods have been banned by European consumers”. They will light the “fires of anger” at nightfall to sound the alarm about the deep agricultural crisis they are experiencing. The FDSEA and Young Farmers also denounce a government which procrastinates while farmers await urgent economic measures.
