Eighth in Pro B in evaluation (16.8 per match); second in caused fouls (5.8); seventh in interceptions (1.6); third plus-minus allowing the impact of the presence of a player on the floor to be quantified (10.1); twelfth in points scored (14): Hugo Robineau’s start to the season is exemplary.
The number 8 of Boulazac Basket Dordogne remains on a very strong performance in Hyères/Toulon (29 points, 21 evaluation). He only fell below 10 in evaluation once, at Alliance Alsace (68-65 Saturday October 29). And never below 10 points.
In Aix-Maurienne, Friday November 15, third in this Pro B, his team will need a performance of the same quality as in the Var to achieve another success on the road.
The back tries to “never be too high or too low”, to find consistency if possible throughout the season. His coach Alexandre Ménard notes “that he has moved up a notch compared to last season”.
Meditation
Perhaps because the player has “improved [ses] daily routines, mentally. I’m clearer on certain aspects of my game.”
“Defensively, he stuck to it, more than last season”
Robineau 2024-2025 has decided to simplify things, “when it works, you don’t have to worry”. An example? “I try a lot to calm down, to channel my energy. It also involves meditation, setting goals for myself, so I know where I’m going. »
Ménard noticed this evolution. “Hugo worked in the right tone. Last year, he wanted to assert himself in the group; there, he is a full part of it. Defensively, he stuck to it, more than last season. »
“More fluid”
The Choletais admits to feeling more comfortable in this squad, which helps. “The group lives better I think, with better relationships. It’s healthier, more fluid. » The guard can thus continue to express his game, made of percussion towards the circle as well as three-point shots. “Causing mistakes is one of my qualities. I’m trying to be more lucid, to adjust my decisions. To be aggressive in a more intelligent and collective way. »
Result, “he’s our best player in the plus minus,” underlines Ménard. For a player who has a more attacking profile, it’s very good. »
The 24-year-old has even started to correct his habit of attacking referees. “He takes it upon himself,” smiles his trainer. “I always complain a little, it’s my nature. But I’m maturing, I feel it and it’s pleasant. »
