Premier League. A Chelsea shock

What’s the point of waiting when you can have a shock on the first day? Tuesday June 18, the calendar for the 2024-2025 Premier League season was revealed and highlighted a first big poster. Manchester City and Chelsea will therefore meet at Stamford Bridge for, we hope, a remake of last year’s match which resulted in a spectacular scenario (4-4). Quadruple reigning champions, the Citizens will face Arsenal on September 16 and will experience a tough series of duels in February against Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool then Tottenham.

Heavy for the ghost, Ipswich

This year, the English championship will begin on August 16 with a meeting between Manchester United and Fulham on the pitch at Old Trafford. The Mancunian club has the distinction of continuing with an eighth consecutive opening match. The following day, Arsenal, still managed by Mikel Arteta and who finished second behind City for the second consecutive season, will host Wolverhampton Wolves.

Ipswich, newly promoted and returning to the Premier League for the first time in 22 years, will see the debut of new Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who replaced Jürgen Klopp, at their Portman Road ground since 2015.

Fabian Hürzeler’s reign at Brighton will begin away at Everton as new West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui takes on Aston Villa in London. Leicester, who have not yet named Maresca’s successor, will host Tottenham on August 19 for the last match of this first day.
