Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry is back with the team in hopes of restarting its season.
After maintaining a goals against average of 5.47 and a save percentage of .836 in his first 3 games of the season, Jarry was transferred to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton farm club for conditioning purposes.
Jarry has since told NHL.com that he wants to play better to help the Penguins, who occupy 3rd place in the Metropolitan Division with a 6-8-2 record.
“I hope it goes like that,” Jarry said. I want to come back here and I want to play well. That’s my goal. This is what I want to do. I want to help this team as much as possible. Every time I’m in net, I think about giving him a chance to win and helping this team get in a good position. »
Jarry was excellent with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, going 4-1 with a 2.16 goals-against average and .926 save percentage.
“It was good, the team played very well there,” added Jarry. This team did an excellent job. She works very hard. It was good to be out there and play a few games, play a few games in a row. I think I played pretty well.
“Obviously, it’s never easy to have to move with your family and move to another place to play a few games. I think that’s all part of the challenge. This is what you sign up for as a hockey player. Obviously there’s a lot of unpredictability in hockey games, so I think you just have to be able to pick your play and play it anywhere. »
The Penguins are banking on two other goalies – Alex Nedeljkovic and Joel Blomqvist – and head coach Mike Sullivan explained that only time will dictate who gets the majority of starts in the future.
