“Reassuring” news from Gant’s Noah Fadiga, who collapsed in the middle of the match: “He is doing well”

Noah Fadiga collapsed on the pitch during the match between La Gantoise and Standard (5-0) on Sunday. The Senegalese defender is known to have heart problems, but at halftime, the Buffalos gave reassuring news on social networks.

Fadiga “briefly lost consciousness during an interruption in play, perhaps following a collision which occurred a few minutes earlier” the club indicated on X. “The first cardiological examinations did not reveal any problem. Noah will carry out additional examinations at UZ Brussels. He is doing well and thanks everyone for their support.”

The 24-year-old was substituted after 38 minutes of play on Sunday. He announced in July 2023 that he was suffering from heart problems. Cardiologist Pedro Brugada, who carried out additional examinations, then authorized the player to “continue his career without any risk”. The medical commission of the French football federation (FFF) nevertheless decided otherwise, and revoked the license of the player who had to leave his then club, Stade Brestois.

Noah’s father, Khalilou, a player who played for Lommel, Club Brugge, La Gantoise and Beerschot, also suffered from heart problems.
