The 24 Hours of Le Mans were neutralized overnight at 3:44 a.m. after the no. 311 Cadillac V-Series.R – Whelen Cadillac Racing went off the track and especially the intensification of the rain.
The night was initially marked by the accident of the No. 46 BMW M4 GT3 – Team WRT of Ahmad Al Harthy in the Esses de la Forêt. A car which was able to return to the front in the first part of the event.
It was then the exit of the track of the No. 311 Cadillac of Jack Aitken, when the rain intensified, which constituted the main highlight of this night phase. The safety car was deployed at 3:44 a.m. and neutralized the race ever since.
In the general classification, the No. 8 Toyota of Brendon Hartley is in the lead, which had taken the advantage shortly after midnight taking advantage of the penalty for the No. 83 Ferrari – AF Corse, sanctioned following the collision with the BMW n°20 – BMW M Team WRT of Dries Vanthoor.
Followed by Kévin Estre (Porsche n°6 – Porsche Penske) at six tenths and the second Toyota n°7 of José Maria Lopez currently at 3’14”. Ferrari n°50 – Ferrari AF Corse and n°83 – AF Corse provisionally complete the top 5. 7th place for the first Cadillac n°3 – Cadillac Racing of Renger van der Zande when the best Lamborghini SC63, the n°19 where Romain Grosjean is racing, is 14th ahead of the first Peugeot n°93 of Jean-Eric Vergne, despite a small mistake at Tertre Rouge earlier in the night.
AF Corse dominates LMP2 with the No. 183 Oreca 07 of François Perrodo ahead of Nolan Siegel (No. 22 Oreca – United Autosports) and Lorenzo Fluxa (No. 37 Oreca – COOL Racing). In the category, we will note the loss of the left rear wheel and the retirement for the No. 45 – Crowdstrike Racing by APR shortly after 3 a.m. Duqueine Team retired due to engine problem.
Porsche places its two 911 GT3 R n°92 – Manthey Pure Rxcing and n°91 – Manthey EMA in the lead in LMGT3. Ian James with the No. 27 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 – The Heart of Racing completes the top 3 in the category.
