The young midfielder is on the Belgium U21 list to play in the Euro Espoirs play-offs against the Czech Republic. Two decisive matches to participate in the final stages of the competition next summer.
Belgium U21 is playing big during this gathering. By finishing second in their group behind Spain, the Diablotins failed to qualify directly for the Euro Espoirs and must go through the play-offs where they will face the Czech Republic on November 15 and 19.
One of the most experienced players
A decisive double confrontation in which Eliot Matazo, summoned by Gill Swerts, will take part. And the midfielder from the Academy, who came on against Bologna, will certainly have a big role to play in trying to obtain qualification by making his experience speak for itself. With 20 caps and three captaincies, he is one of the most capped players in the squad and is one of those to have already played in the Euro Espoirs.
A second opportunity to compete in the Euro
It was in fact during the summer of 2023 and the Diablotins had not managed to get through the group stages. Number 8 will therefore want to try his luck again in a competition where he could find several of his teammates at AS Monaco, such as Maghnes Akliouche, Soungoutou Magassa or Christian Mawissa, called up for the first time with France U21, the Bleuets being already qualified. Well done and good luck Eliot! ????
