National coach Domenico Tedesco has once again made some surprising choices. All week there has been a lot of talk about Killian Sardella and Mika Godts, but neither is in the selection. On the other hand, Joaquim Seys is present.
Joaquin Seys was clearly in the balance with Killian Sardella, but the latter is a regular starter with the hopes, who play two important qualifying matches for the Euro against the Czech Republic. “That did indeed play a role,” admitted the coach.
“We want the hopefuls to have every chance of qualifying.” The fact that in-form Ajax player Mika Godts was not there was also a bit of a surprise.
“It is important that young players like Godts first make the step up to the U21s, just like Arthur Vermeeren, who is becoming more and more important at Leipzig and is also crucial with the U21s. For Godts it is good not to Don’t skip any steps yet.”
There shouldn’t, ultimately, be much discussion about Seys’ selection. The left-back has performed very well in recent matches, especially in the Champions League.
Finally, Tedesco also discussed the return of Al-Dakhil, who recently played several matches with the Stuttgart U23s. “He left good impressions on us, everyone is positive about him. He is important for us and, in our opinion, has enormous potential.”
