Yan Valery close to Sheffield Wednesday move

After two seasons at Angers-SCO, Yan Valery is preparing to return to England. The Angevin club, promoted to L1, is very close to an agreement with the English Sheffield Wednesday, relegated to the Championship (D2). Information from L’Equipe that we are able to confirm.

The departure of Valery, under contract until 2026, will allow the SCO to recover transfer compensation, the amount of which has not yet been filtered. It further opens up the work for the full-backs, after the non-extension of Florent Hanin.

He missed England

In two seasons under the Angevin colors, Yan Valery accumulated 65 matches (5 assists), alternating the good and the less good, especially during his first season in Ligue 1. His athletic qualities, however, allowed him to become important for his various coaches, Baticle, Bouhazama and Dujeux, who all made him an indisputable starter.

The player trained in Rennes and left for Southampton at a very young age will therefore find a country in which he feels better than in France, as he confided in our columns in April. My wife is English and has difficulty adapting. Me too. […] The way of working is different. I also forgot what France is. In England, people always told me about clichés about the French, and I said that they were false. But when I came back… (smile) There are also all the administrative aspects to learn. I have to readjust on and off the field. In fact, I became Englishhe recently confirmed to the media 90Football.

The 25-year-old defender will be able to resume his habits across the Channel, under the orders of Danny Röhl, former assistant to Ralph Hasenhüttl, who trusted Valery during his debut in the Premier League with Southampton in 2018-2019.
