ATP > Rafael Nadal clarifies his schedule: “I’m sad not to be able to experience this wonderful atmosphere but I will not participate in the Wimbledon tournament this year”

This Wednesday, the coach of the Spanish tennis team, David Ferrer formalized the participation of Rafael Nadal in the Olympic Games.

On his Twitter account, the king of clay gave explanations on his preparation for this competition and confirmed his participation in the ATP 250 tournament in Bastad scheduled for July 15 to 21. He also took the opportunity to definitively formalize his package for Wimbledon. A choice that couldn’t be more logical.

“During the post-match press conference at Roland Garros, I was asked about my summer schedule and since then I have been training on clay. It was announced yesterday that I will participate in the Summer Olympics in Paris, my last Olympics. With this goal, we think the best for my body is to not change surfaces and continue playing on clay until then. This is why I will not participate in the Wimbledon Championships this year. I am sad not to be able to experience this year the wonderful atmosphere of this extraordinary event which will always remain in my heart, and to be with all the British fans who have always given me great support. I will miss you all. To prepare for the Olympic Games, I will play the tournament in Bastad, Sweden. A tournament that I already played at the start of my career and where I had great times on and off the field. I look forward to seeing you all there. Thank you for your attention. »
