Algeria Football –Arbitration scandal in Morocco: the catastrophic management of Fouzi Lekjaa raises criticism of the integrity of arbitration.
In Morocco, arbitration controversies seem to become a constant. After the affair of the penalty not awarded to Olympic de Safi during the 8th day against AS FAR, a new scandal broke out this time after the victory of the Safiot club against Jeunesse Sportive de Soualem (JSS) in 9th day. The OCS denounces a new refereeing error, this time attributed to the VAR referee, Bouchra Karboubi, who, according to the club, deprived the team of an obvious penalty and canceled a valid goal.
These repeated errors, which arise almost every week, cast a worrying shadow over the management of arbitration in Morocco. The president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, finds himself once again under fire for his management of arbitration bodies, the quality and integrity of which are regularly called into question. The management of the National Arbitration Directorate (DNA) is at the heart of these controversies, with clubs like Olympic Safi calling for an in-depth reform of the arbitration system and demanding sanctions against offending referees.
For Olympic Safi, the situation has become untenable. After having already denounced an error by referee Mustapha Kachaf during their previous match against AS FAR, the club this time requested the dismissal of VAR referee Bouchra Karboubi for the next OCS matches, considering that such errors must no longer be tolerated.
The catastrophic management of these controversies and the lack of visible action on the part of the FRMF and Fouzi Lekjaa have fueled growing frustration among clubs in Morocco, who no longer hesitate to point the finger at the inability of the authorities to guarantee fair sporting justice. Over the weeks, these refereeing scandals, which poison the competition, risk seriously harming the credibility of Moroccan football.
