Quebecer David Perron was back at Ottawa Senators training on Thursday, having left the team’s entourage on October 21.

It seems that the veteran’s absence is explained by an ordeal experienced by his family.

In early October, Perron’s wife, Vanessa, announced that their unborn daughter had a lung defect requiring emergency surgery at birth.

“Elizabeth Perron. We chose his name on the way to an exam in Toronto. I needed her to be real before I risked losing her. A few weeks earlier, at 30 weeks pregnant, I discovered that she had a large congenital malformation of the pulmonary airways,” Vanessa Perron recounted in a touching publication on her Instagram account.

David Perron has missed the last seven games of the “”. The winger signed a two-year contract worth a total of $8 million with the Ottawa team in July.

In five games so far in 2024-2025, the Sherbrooke native has not recorded any points and has maintained a differential of -4.

The Senators will be in action on Thursday evening, hosting the New York Islanders at the Canadian Tire Centre.
