Paris: the Moulin Rouge deploys a tarpaulin while waiting to find its wings

This is one more step towards the return to normal long awaited by fans of this emblematic place. The famous Moulin Rouge, perched at the top of the eponymous cabaret, is no longer visible to tourists and onlookers. Since Monday, a tarpaulin has been erected in front of the structure of the mill, which had seen its wings come loose during the night of April 24 to 25. An accident which, fortunately, caused no casualties.

Hidden behind this huge poster, the mill is currently being renovated. Cranes had also been installed several weeks ago. However, you will have to wait until July 15 to find the Moulin Rouge in its historic form. The date also echoes the passage of the Olympic flame in the capital.

Identical wings

On the giant poster, we see the famous mill with, in front of it, scaffolding on which a dozen cabaret dancers pose. The purpose of this tarpaulin is to hide the work undertaken behind it by the workers. According to the Moulin Rouge, the new wings will be identical to those that came off. It will take several more weeks to install them one by one at the top of the establishment. The blades will, as before, be illuminated in red, in the colors of the cabaret.

The Moulin Rouge also indicated to Le Parisien that the cabaret dancers will perform a French cancan in front of the establishment during the passing of the Olympic flame on July 15. A show which will confirm the rebirth of the Moulin Rouge in time for the start of the Olympic Games.
