The French women's basketball team faces its Israeli counterpart, this Thursday, November 7, 2024 (9 p.m.), at Caen Sports Palace (Calvados). On this occasion, and due to a international context particularly complex around the Middle East, security will be reinforced around the Caen sports venue.
Traffic restrictions
Around the Palais des Sports, the police will have to manage in particular traffic and spectator flows. Among the measures put in place by the Prefecture of Calvados, several axes will be closed to trafficin both directions, from 7 p.m.warns the Prefecture:
- Boulevard Yves-Guillou, from the intersection between rue Caponière and avenue Henry-Chéron to the west, to the intersection of boulevard du Petit Vallerent, to the east.
- The D405 (route de Louvigny), between the Intermarché roundabout and the Zénith roundabout.
- Rue de Maltot to the intersection with rue du Plateau Fleuri.
Diversions put in place
Diversions will therefore be put in place. Users arriving from the west of Boulevard Yves Guillou will have to take the following route: rue Caponière, rue Guillaume le Conquérant, place Fontette, place Guillouard, avenue Albert Sorel, boulevard du Petit Vallerent towards the Cavée viaduct.
Users arriving from the east of Boulevard Yves Guillou will have to take Boulevard du Petit Vallerent towards the Cavée viaduct.
The Louvigny exit from the ring road is strongly discouraged
Furthermore, due to the closure of the Louvigny road, exit no. 10 of the western ring road towards Caen-centre is strongly not recommended for going to the city centre. To reach the Palais des Sports or the city center of Caen, motorists will have to take exit no. 11 of the southern ring road (Suisse Normande) towards Fleury-sur-Orne (Castorama).
After taking the Harcourt road and going down the Viadic de la Cavée, the public is invited to park on the parking lot P1 of the exhibition center.
Already complicated in normal times, as was the case on Friday October 18 when three events took place at the same time, traffic promises to be particularly difficult in the Palais des Sports area this Thursday November 7.
