Nursing homes in the Northern Territory are doing their Olympics – European Community of Alsace

As part of the year of sport and 2024, nursing homes in the northern Alsatian territory are holding their Olympic Games. After a phase of preparing residents for 6 sporting events, the 11 participating establishments met on November 7 for Olympics between seniors.

This initiative, financially supported by the Conference of Funders, was divided into two phases:

  • since July : equipment is made available to nursing homes to allow residents to prepare for badminton, relay, javelin, basketball, shot put and penalty shootout events
  • November 7th : the 11 establishments come together to compete in teams during the 6 events

The nursing homes are evaluated based on the points acquired during sporting events and on creativity for identifying teams (name, disguise, team spirit, etc.). A creativity prize was awarded by a jury made up of a volunteer from a non-participating nursing home, a representative of the Departmental Council for Citizenship and Autonomy and a representative of the services of the European Community of Alsace.
