MotoGP: Marc Marquez criticizes Barcelona's choice for season finale

Marc Marquez has expressed his disagreement with the choice of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to host the final round of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship. The Spanish rider, despite having achieved a podium in Barcelona earlier in the season, does not consider this circuit as being particularly suited to his driving style.

Marc Marquezthe eight-time MotoGP world champion, recently expressed his wish to see the final round of the 2024 World Championship take place on a different circuit than that of Barcelona-Catalonia. Although he managed to finish third in the
Catalan Grand Prix this year after starting from 14th position, Marquez does not hide his preference for other avenues.

Asked about the relevance of the Barcelona-Catalonia Circuit for his performance, Marquez replied dryly: “ Non », indicating that he is not particularly comfortable on this circuit. Historically, he has won two races on this track in the premier category, in
2014during his streak of 10 consecutive victories, and in 2019but these victories now seem distant.

Marc Marquez :
« I would prefer another circuit »

On the other hand, the pilot of Gresini Ducati found a glimmer of hope in his recent performance at
Sepangwhere he finished second in the MotoGP Sprint and third in the main race. He commented: “
Sepang wasn't a good track for me either, and
we were able to be competitive
. » This testifies to his ability to overcome difficulties on circuits where he has traditionally struggled.

Despite his reservations, Marc Marquez remains determined: of course, I would prefer another circuit, but ultimately, it is a calendar circuit, so we will try to do our best. » He also emphasized that
weather conditions in November in Barcelona could prove tricky, adding an extra layer of uncertainty to the final race of the season.

As the MotoGP Championship prepares for its conclusion, the hopes of Marquez of a final podium against Enea Bastianini will depend not only on its performance but also on its ability to adapt to the challenges posed by the circuit of
Barcelona-Catalonia.
