Anderlecht: No transfer but a first chance

At RSC Anderlecht, we breathed a sigh of relief to see that the cup match against Tubise had not posed any problems. In goal, there was Mads Kikkenborg. The Danish goalkeeper played his first official match with Brussels and he did well. He spoke to Tipsbladet about his start with the RSCA.

Kikkenborg was snatched from Lyngby by Anderlecht for 1.3 million euros in January. He balanced between the role of second and third goalie. He didn’t have the opportunity to play with Brian Riemer. David Hubert threw him into the deep end.

Kikkenborg makes his debut

“It was liberating to finally be able to play an official match for Anderlecht. It was very nice to be able to play a real match in front of the fans,” said the goalkeeper. Kikkenborg could join Danish club Brondby on a rental deal this summer, but he is making no secret of it. He wants to succeed, preferably in Anderlecht, and a return to Denmark is not an option for him.

No Brondby

“My goal is always to develop as a person and as a footballer. I focused on going abroad and not on returning to Denmark,” he said. Colin Coosemans is a role model for Kikkenborg. Sometimes things happen very quickly in football. Kikkenborg therefore does not lose hope.

“My goal is to make a breakthrough at Anderlecht, and then we will see what the future holds.” I can make my contribution, but I also have to play. I hope I have shown the club that they can count on me, so I hope I can play more matches.”
