Formula 1 | A ‘promising’ third place, but Verstappen is under investigation

Max Verstappen finished third in the Sprint in Brazil, after a great battle with Charles Leclerc throughout the race. At the end of the Sprint, he almost attacked the McLarens but was unable to overtake Oscar Piastri despite a daring attempt at the restart after the Virtual Safety Car.

This is also what caused him to be under investigation by the commissioners for an infraction of the VSC, because by approaching Piastri to try to attack him from the restart, he apparently did not respect the delta of speed that pilots are supposed to respect during neutralization.

“It was a difficult race but the pace was very good. I fought for too long with Charles but it was difficult to attack. I had to wait for mistakes, fortunately they came and it worked in my favor “It was promising in terms of race pace.” said the Dutchman.

The three-time world champion hopes to be able to fight for pole and victory but he expects the McLarens to be in front of him all weekend: “I hope so. I expect them to be very fast over one lap. We will try to limit the damage.”

If he receives a 5-second penalty, he will move back one place compared to Leclerc, and if he receives ten seconds, it will be two positions compared to the two Ferraris. In both cases, he would lose either one point or two.
