KV Mechelen striker Benito Raman still knows how to score, but he also looks at his own performances. He was quite critical of himself.
Benito Raman scored a double against RAAL in the Belgian Cup. The substitute, in addition to his effectiveness in attack, also ensured his defensive contribution.
“I’m not going home with a hundred percent positive feeling, because I made a mistake in the 1-1, which forced us to play an extra thirty minutes,” he said afterwards -match.
Raman rectified the situation with his two goals in extra time, allowing Mechelen to qualify for the round of 16 of the Cup. For the moment, the former Ghent and Anderlecht player is content with coming into the game. This is explained not only by an increase in confidence on the side of Lion Lauberbachbut also by a problem concerning Raman himself.
Raman is still facing fitness problems due to a long period of inactivity before his transfer to Mechelen. “Sometimes I don’t recover quickly enough,” he reveals. “I expected it to be fixed two weeks ago. That’s not the case now. I set another goal for myself and we’ll see when we get to where we need to be.”
The 29-year-old striker sees this with realism. “I came in seriously late. I’m trying to make up for it week by week. I’m expecting to play a lot more minutes soon once I’m one hundred percent fit.”
