Already back in competition, Félix and Alexis Lebrun had to work hard to win Nîmes-Montpellier on Thursday evening during the 4th day of the French championship.
Barely time to celebrate their successes… After their victories at the European Championships and the WTT Champions in Montpellier, for what constitute the greatest titles of their individual careers, Alexis and Félix Lebrun were already back on deck on Thursday evening for the 4th day of the French Pro A championship.
The two brothers had been left to rest on Tuesday evening in La Romagne, which did not prevent their Montpellier-Nîmes team from winning (1-3), but they were therefore back in action on Thursday against Hennebont, the one of the very solid formations in France. And the Paris Olympic medalists did not have it easy.
Two successes in five sets for the Lebrun brothers
Alexis Lebrun opened the ball, and in what way, by outclassing the Egyptian Omar Sassar, 19th in the world and quarter-finalist at the Olympics, in three short sets (11-5, 11-3, 11-6). In the process, Félix Lebrun faced the South Korean Jonghoon Lim, 31st in the ranking, and it was more complicated, with a success in five sets (11-9, 11-5, 10-12, 3-11, 11- 8).
As the third single was lost by Antoine Hachard, Alexis Lebrun had to return to the table to finish the job. And like his little brother, the European champion was involved in a big five-set fight against Lim, which he ended up winning (11-4, 10-12, 10-12, 11-5, 11- 6). A great evening at work for the Lebruns, who will again be left to rest the next day in Rouen (November 12). It must be said that, in their hellish schedule, there is a new WTT Champions to compete next week in Frankfurt.
