1B – YOUTH Despite some good performances, they have been waiting for it since the start of the D1b season. The first victory of the season has finally arrived and not against just anyone since the RSCA Futures beat in the derby the neighbor RWDM who occupied first place while being undefeated. Never dominated by the leader, the mauves also showed maturity this time to turn the situation around and not break down at the end of the match. They then deservedly won the derby with a score of 2-1 with Goto (photo) as the hero.

Following the disappointing results of recent weeks, which however did not reflect the quality of the performances of his young players, coach Jelle Coen decided to reshuffle his team. Facing the favorite for the title, he played with a 5-man defense. Vroninks on the right flank and the right-handed Maamar, moved to the opposite, had to pace both flanks. The defensive axis usually composed of the duo Baouf and Lapage was reinforced by the experienced Dom. At the heart of the midfield, the youth had to control the game. A triangle with a high point made up of De Cat and Engwanda, both aged 16, in support of Tajaouart, 18, who had a freer role. This trio was to support an attacking duo composed of Goto and Angulo whose mission was to shift to the left flank.

The young purples took the start of the match on their own and could have opened the scoring through Tajaourt who had infiltrated but his shot was captured by the opposing goalkeeper. The RWDM then gradually returned to the match, showing itself to be more enterprising but without being very dangerous apart from a long-range try well pushed back for a corner by Schlieck. It took a disagreement between two central defenders and a lack of coverage from the right on a cross for the visitors to score the opening goal through Robail on the half-hour mark. The end of the half was more difficult for the locals who were however able to return to the locker room without conceding anything.

Anderlecht were more enterprising after the break and were rewarded with an equalizer from Goto’s header receiving a very good cross from Maamar who had gained the upper hand on his flank despite being placed on the wrong foot . On the left back’s new overflow for this match, the Japanese center-forward came very close to a second goal but this time he found the post. It was only a postponement for Goto who in the last minutes gave his colors the definitive lead. Ideally launched by Tajaourt, very active in the center of the game, the Japanese deceived the goalkeeper with great composure.

To the talent present during previous outings, the young mauves this time added a zest of experience to defeat a more seasoned opponent. Facing the favorite for the title comprising almost only players from abroad, the young mauves showed that they had a quality team despite the disappointing results. They are taking their heads out of the water a little thanks to this deserved victory and if they continue to show this face there is no doubt that they will manage to get out of the red zone. This success, while many considered them losers, will in any case give them a welcome boost in terms of confidence.
