It was through a succinct press release that US Concarneau announced, Thursday evening, the departure of its coach Stéphane Le Mignan. In four seasons, the Morbihannais has experienced everything with the Finistère club. First the top of the National table, collecting 5th place in 2020-2021 and 4th place in 2021-2022. Then a historic rise for the club during the 2022-2023 season, with a championship title at stake.

Before going down this season from Ligue 2 to National at the end of a trying exercise for the club and its supporters, stadium orphans and forced to go into exile in Brest, Lorient, Guingamp, Rennes and even Caen.

In 142 matches on the Concarne bench, Stéphane Le Mignan will have collected an honorable record of 55 victories, 42 draws and 45 defeats. According to our information, the former Concarne coach would be of great interest to the management of En Avant Guingamp, whose head coach, Stéphane Dumont, had announced his departure before the end of the season.

A false start last summer

Already last season, when the club was just celebrating its National champion title and its rise to Ligue 2, a departure of the Morbihan coach was mentioned. The person concerned had notably raised the problem of the Guy-Piriou stadium, not up to the standards for Ligue 2, and whose unavailability could have been detrimental to US Concarneau this season. The potential departure of his coach had, at the time, worried Jacques Piriou, the president of the club, before Le Mignan finally decided to stay.
