Zero goals, zero assists, zero points: there were zeroes all over Steven Stamkos’ record after four games with the Nashville Predators. At least the lethargy has just ended.

Discontent is felt in the country town. The veteran signed a big contract of $32 million over four years on the 1is last July, but it didn’t translate into wins for the Predators.

Stamkos fortunately bought some relief on Saturday afternoon against the Detroit Red Wings. The sniper broke the deadlock, unleashing a lightning shot on the power play to open his account.

Predators fans will still be difficult to console: the Tennessee team suffered a fifth defeat in as many games this season, losing 5 to 2 to the Red Wings.

A catastrophic start for the “Preds”, who had ambitions for this 2024-2025 season with the additions of Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei.

The San Jose Sharks are the only other team on the Bettman circuit that has yet to taste victory this season.
