Patrick Roy “does not remember” having met the CH for a position

A few years ago, the Canadian revamped its hockey staff. The dismissal of Marc Bergevin meant that the club changed not only the people who occupied the positions, but also the structure itself.

There are now two leaders in town, which was not the case before.

Jeff Gorton came to town immediately, but then there was a GM position to fill. And among the many candidates who were met, there was Patrick Roy…

At least, that’s what everyone remembers… except for the main person concerned.

In an interview with Renaud Lavoie broadcast on the airwaves of TVA Sports Tonight, Roy was asked about it, and he claimed that he “doesn’t remember” it and that it’s probably in his selective memory.

We understand here that he pretends not to remember it.

As we know, Roy did not inherit the position. Rather, it was Kent Hughes who became CEO of the club, and when the time came to replace Dominique Ducharme, it was Martin St-Louis who inherited the position.

The former goaltender didn’t get a job in Montreal… and he ultimately became the Islanders’ coach last season.

In the same interview, Roy also mentions that he hopes to see Quebec get a new NHL team one day. The one who was at the helm of the Remparts for years is well placed to understand the love of the people of Quebec for hockey, and he knows that the community would like to get a second chance.

A very interesting interview, therefore, which you can listen to again HERE. The good news, that said, is that even if he didn’t get a job in Montreal, he was able to make his return to the NHL… and we feel he is comfortable with the Islanders. Good for him if he was able to end up with a team that wants him.
