The 32nd edition of the Grand Raid started this Thursday, October 17 in Reunion with the Zembrocal Trail relay whose runners set off from Saint-Joseph at 5 p.m. In Saint-Pierre, the 2,937 participants of the Diagonale des Fous will leave in the evening from the Ravine Blanche site, where the public is bubbling with impatience. This Thursday, October 17, the start of the Diagonale des Fous will be given at 10 p.m. local time from Saint-Pierre while the first torchbearers of the Zembrocal Trail left at 5 p.m. from Saint-Joseph. At 1 a.m., the Mascareignes participants will leave from the village of Hell-Bourg, in Salazie.

The loud applause from the Saint-Pierrois public for the start of the Grand Raid des Joëlettes, half an hour before that of the Diagonale des Fous. Every year, people with disabilities have the opportunity to also participate in the Grand Raid thanks to the help of around fifty big-hearted volunteers. Police officers, doctors and even nurses who take turns carrying them. A human and sporting adventure made possible by the Réunion Aventures Joëlettes association.
At 5 p.m., in front of the Saint-Joseph town hall, the approximately 222 runners of the first stage of the relay set off to reach Nez-de-Boeuf where another member of their team will take over the race.
