Canadians: Rafaël Harvey-Pinard skates for the first time since he had surgery

Montreal Canadiens forward Rafaël Harvey-Pinard took his first skates Thursday morning since he underwent surgery for a broken leg this summer.

The 25-year-old athlete practiced alone on the ice at the Bell Center for a few minutes, just before his teammates took part in morning practice for the evening game against Phillip Danault and the Kings from Los Angeles.

“It’s getting better and better. I try not to see too far ahead yet. It’s one day at a time, Harvey-Pinard told Andrée-Anne Barbeau on the sidelines of the Canadian Blood Drive which was organized on Wednesday. I’m working hard in the gym right now. My goal is to come back as quickly as possible and I will do everything to [y parvenir]»

Originally, the CH had announced that “RHP”’s convalescence would be four months, but the main interested party refused to comment on the possible date of his return to the game.

“It’s hard to say, it will depend on how things go on the ice,” explained Harvey-Pinard. But again, it’s one day at a time. For the moment, things are going really well. »

Harvey-Pinard is entering the final year of a 2-year contract worth US$2.20 million signed in July 2023 this season. Limited to 45 games due to 2 lower-body injuries last season, he scored 2 goals and collected 8 assists, after having had a resounding debut in 2022-2023 by scoring 14 goals and obtaining 6 assists in 34 games.
