Fatal fire in Moisie: support for students in Sept-Îles

The management of three schools at the School Service Center (CSS) du Fer has put in place measures for students who could be affected by the fatal fire in the Place la Boule sector, in Sept-Îles.

“Following the events that occurred in the Place la Boule area yesterday morning, we would like to reassure you that various measures have been put in place at the school in the event that the children need support,” he said. written in the letter sent to parents.

The director of CSS du Fer, Lise Madore, explains that the message sent to parents is preventative since young people “especially those who live in this sector” could be affected by the events. The management of the three schools affected by the situation (Jean-du-, Manikoutai, Gamache) wanted to reassure parents.

“Everything that is said on the internet affects and probably children hear it too,” says Madore. “It’s normal that situations like this that happen one after another make people more sensitive or more stressed.”

Both adults and young people can react to the situation. “I understand very well that children can experience stress because their parents experience it too,” says Lise Madore. This is why the letter concerns parents and children.

“As a parent, your cooperation is essential to reassure children and help them maintain a feeling of security,” we read in the letter.

Disinformation

The mayor of Sept-Îles has also launched a call for vigilance in the face of the misinformation that exists regarding the events that have affected Sept-Îles in recent times.

“I ask people, before publishing things on social networks, find out to have the right information,” said Denis Miousse at the October 15 council meeting. This intervention followed the discovery on Sunday of a body in the Poste River, in Sept-Îles. False information was spread on this subject on social networks.

“Unfortunately, we have been experiencing this for several months in Sept-Îles, there is a certain climate of nervousness… and worry,” he adds.

Mr. Miousse is committed, with the municipal administration, to see how “real information” can be disseminated as quickly as possible in this type of event.
