Ferracci puts an end to the rumor… “for now”

While the name of Jürgen Klopp has appeared in FC news since the planned takeover of Paris FC by the Arnault family and the Red Bull group was revealed, Pierre Ferracci was keen to debunk the rumor, reassuring Stéphane Gilli. Unless a European future for the PFC can reshuffle the cards?

Jürgen Klopp next coach of Paris FC? Guest of BFM Business this Thursday at the end of the day, Pierre Ferracci was inevitably questioned about the possibility of seeing the ex-Liverpool coach be appointed head of the PFC. “No, he will not be the coach. Well, not for the moment… Except one day if we are in the Champions League,” he mischievously slipped away.

“Stéphane Gilli with us is doing a very good job,” says Ferracci. “We are going to learn what the coordination role is at global level from Jürgen Klopp. He is someone I admire a lot.” The 57-year-old German has just taken on the role of global football director for Red Bull, also backed by the planned takeover of the Parisian club (minority shareholder) by the Arnault family (majority shareholder).

A big blow in the transfer window? “They will do it later.”

With the arrival of the powerful French shareholder made official this Thursday, Paris FC is promised a new dimension. However, major maneuvers should not be launched immediately. “Everyone recognizes that we have a squad which today allows us to move up (in Ligue 1). We are not going to do anything crazy in the January transfer window,” promises Ferracci. “We will make small adjustments, as usual.” So the Arnault family is not aiming to make a big splash this transfer window? “No, no. They will later.”

Like for Manchester City, the one who is still the leader of the PFC is not afraid that his club will become a satellite entity, doomed to be only a training channel for the galaxy Red Bull? “When the Arnaud family enters a majority in a company, I am not aware of it becoming the satellite of a minority shareholder. (…) There will be good understanding between the Arnault family and Red Bull. I think the balance that will be found will be satisfactory for both parties.”

Through its holding company Agache, owner of LVMH, the Arnault family will buy Paris FC with the Red Bull groupintended to have “an advisory role”. The three parties announced this Thursday that they had entered into exclusive negotiations to finalize the operation.
