Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev and Holger Rune are participating this week in the “6 Kings Slam”, Saudi Arabia’s ambitious and very lucrative exhibition.
To attract these six big names to Riyadh, the country of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman offered a guarantee of $1.5 million to each participant.
Beaten in the quarter-finals by Jannik Sinner in just one hour and nine minutes of play (6−0, 6–3), Daniil Medvedev therefore carried out the most profitable financial operation in the history of tennis.
Note that Holger Rune, dominated by Carlos Alcaraz (6−4, 6–2) in 1h12 of play (three minutes more than Medvedev) also pocketed the jackpot.
Sinner and Alcaraz will therefore face Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal respectively on Thursday evening, automatically qualified for the semi‐finals. And the winner of the tournament will pocket… 6 million dollars.
