Chaos in African football. Nigeria was scheduled to play an Africa Cup qualifier against Libya, but it was postponed after a boycott by Nigerian players. But they have their reasons for doing so…

Nigeria was scheduled to play an African Cup qualifier against Libya. Last Friday, the first leg took place in Nigeria. The home team then went on to win 1-0, but Libya were particularly unhappy with the reception they received at the end of the match.

But when Nigeria traveled to Libya to play, the situation completely degenerated. The Nigeria players were supposed to fly to Benghazi, but their flight was diverted.

Therefore, they found themselves at a small airport in the desert region of Al-Abraq. They have already been blocked for at least 18 hours. On social networks, several former players of Nigeria’s Jupiler Pro League have already expressed their fear.

Victor Boniface (ex-Union) published several tweets. He says they have been stuck at the airport for hours with no wifi, no food and no place to sleep. In his last tweet (for now), he makes it clear.

“It’s getting scary now. We just want to go back to our country.” On Instagram, Wilfred Patience (ex-Genk) also published a rather worrying message “It’s getting really scary, I’m afraid for our lives.”
