The fear has dissipated. While he had been placed in intensive care in the south of Spain in recent days for serious heart health problems, Johnny Rep underwent successful surgery.

Ajax Amsterdam financed the operation

Aged 72, the former Netherlands international (42 caps and 12 goals, 1973-1981) had a pacemaker fitted. According to the newspaper The Team his heart would have returned to normal.

It was his former club Ajax Amsterdam which financed his operation. As a reminder, Johnny Rep also played in Bastia (1977-1979) and Saint-Étienne (1979-1983).

A few days after the death of another Oranje, Johan Neeskens, this news is pleasing.
