This Tuesday, October 15, the former French international will be tried in for sexual assault while drunk, facts that he does not refute and which date back to Friday, September 6.

The fall of Wissam Ben Yedder continues a little more with each accusation. This Tuesday, October 15, the trial of the former player of the French team and TFC (2010-2016) opens in Nice for “sexual assault while drunk”. Without a club since the end of his lease with AS Monaco last June, the striker suffers from “regular and massive alcohol problems” according to his lawyer.

On September 6, while drinking alone in his car, parked on the Place du Cap d’Ail, the former French international made friends with a 23-year-old young woman. The latter eventually agreed to get into his vehicle. The native of then placed his hand on the victim’s thigh, tried to kiss her and even began to masturbate in front of her.

Refusal to comply

The young woman managed to escape from the car. She immediately filed a complaint. Shortly after, the Cap d’Ail gendarmes managed to arrest Ben Yedder and place him in police custody, despite his refusal to comply. His blood alcohol level then stood at 1.52g per liter of blood.

Accusations of “refusal to comply and driving under the influence of alcohol” are therefore joined to those of “sexual assault while clearly intoxicated”. Facts punishable by 10 years in prison.

The Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal had decided not to place the player in pre-trial detention, favoring very strict judicial control (ban on leaving the Alpes-Maritimes, going to a discotheque, leaving his home between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., obligation to provide care and report twice a week to the gendarmerie).

Wissam Ben Yedder “intends to take responsibility for his actions”

Speaking to AFP, the lawyers of the former FC player declared: “Our client will attend the court hearing where he intends to take responsibility for his actions. Mr. Ben Yedder is contrite to have been the cause of such a situation and is sincerely sorry for the complainant.”

As a reminder, other judicial information targets him. In July 2023, another woman filed a complaint against Wissam Ben Yedder, then indicted for “rape, attempted rape and sexual assault”. To date, the case remains under investigation.

Finally, on December 27, 2024, the man with 71 goals for the Violets will return to the Nice court. His former wife accuses him of psychological violence.
