Mayor Catherine Fournier (Photo: Le Courrier du Sud – Archives)

When it was announced that Catherine was a candidate for Longueuil, I was excited. I was looking forward to seeing a young mayor with transformative ideas.

I followed his journey to the National Assembly and his political speeches. I had faith in his sovereign skills and his resilience. I couldn’t wait to see her at the helm of our city.

However, once in office, she disappointed me. Not only did nothing change, but politics in Longueuil began to be influenced by everyone except the citizens. First the airport, then the deer, and so on.

I even found myself scroller on her Instagram photos, beauty pageants and social events. She’s young, let her take advantage of it.

But as a resident of Greenfield Park, I am deeply disappointed to see the City let its culture and identity die. The uniqueness of my neighborhood was swallowed up in the indifference of Longueuil. City plaques, events, community organizations… everything has gone under the umbrella of Longueuil, which barely functions.

Why would the mayor want to undermine the uniqueness of Greenfield Park?
