Mohamed Salah has withdrawn from the Egyptian selection. The Liverpool striker will miss the second leg against Mauritania.

Salah will miss Tuesday’s match in Mauritania due to injury concerns. Egypt coach Hossam Hassan explained after Friday’s 2-0 victory against the same opponents that he would grant any player an early departure.

“If a player asks not to play the next match, which will take place on an artificial turf pitch, I will agree. The Mauritanian national team plays hard and with violent tackles too. If Salah asks me not to play the next match, I will agree because of the difficulty of the pitch and in order to preserve it”Hassan told reporters after Friday’s victory.

It is now confirmed that Salah will not make the trip to the Stade Cheikha Ould Boidiya and that he will travel to the AXA training center in Liverpool next week. A statement from the Egyptian Football Federation said: “The technical staff of Egypt’s senior football team, led by manager Hossam Hassan, held a meeting with Mohamed Salah, the captain of the Pharaohs. It was agreed at the meeting to exempt the player from the upcoming match. »

Salah could bring in Arne Slot’s first sessions in the build-up to Liverpool’s clash with Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.
