While he has just announced his retirement, Andrés Iniesta is not closing the door to a return to his favorite club, FC Barcelona.
The world of football had to say goodbye to one of its legends. Andrés Iniesta officially announced his retirement. Although he has left Europe since 2019, the Spanish midfielder remains in the hearts of supporters and players. His former teammatesas well as the Real Madridhistoric rival of Barça, wanted to pay tribute to him. During his career, Iniesta has always shown his love for FC Barcelona. It is for this reason that in 2019 he decided to leave Europe, so as to never have to face them.
His departure left a void for the club. Fortunately, the Blaugrana can count on their training center and young talents for the future. Young Pedri is now considered the future Andrés Iniesta. Although the qualities of both players are comparable, the 21-year-old midfielder still has a lot to prove to reach the level of the 2010 world champion. Under the guidance of the club’s current coach, Hansi Flick, Pedri has matured in his game and seems close to a very high level. However, Andrés Iniesta admits that he would one day like to take a position at FC Barcelona as a coach.
The next Hansi Flick will be Andrés Iniesta
Just like Xavi Hernandez or Luis Enrique, Andrés Iniesta’s future could well take shape on the bench as a coacha role that has been close to his heart for many years. With his retirement, Iniesta will be able to fully concentrate on obtaining his coaching qualifications.
However, being coach of FC Barcelona is not an easy task. The pressure is intense and the expectations are very high. His former teammate Xavi experienced this. For now, Iniesta wants Hansi Flick to stay at the helm of the clubespecially in view of the current results.
