Friborg Gottéron regained color on Tuesday in the Champions Hockey League. The Dragons largely beat Eisbären Berlin 9-3 thanks in particular to a hat-trick from young Jan Dorthe (18).
The Friborgs thus achieved very significant success on a mental level after their recent disappointments in the championship. They, who had enormous difficulty in scoring, freed themselves by turning on the lights three times in the first third. Dorthe, promoted to the front row, scored the first two successes (8th/10th) while number 3 came from the stick of Yannick Rathgeb (16th).
Gottéron’s other goals were the work of Mottet (22nd), Schmid (26th), Bertschy (27th/31st), Dorthe again (30th) and Näf (50th). Another pleasing fact, Pat Emond’s players scored three times on the power play.
The Zurich Lions were less prolific. At home, the Swiss champions won 2-1 against the Sheffield Steelers. Rudolfs Balcers was the man of the match by signing the 1-0 for the Lions and converting the decisive shot on goal.
