Here’s why Xhekaj risks passing through Laval by Wednesday

Arber Xhekaj risks going to the Rocket before the first game of the regular season of the Montreal Canadiens. But fear not.

This would only be an administrative maneuver on the part of the CH to give itself as much room for maneuver as possible during the season.

The CH will use the long-term injured list this season, and the use of this tool comes with all kinds of obscure regulations that general managers themselves may have difficulty untangling.

We will therefore spare you the many details, but what you must understand is that these regulations ensure that it is advantageous, to start the season, to have in your training players whose contract includes performance bonus. RG.org and PuckPedia have explained it well, among others.

And as Xhekaj’s contract does not contain one, the CH risks selling him to the American League for purely administrative reasons when it submits its 23-player roster to the National League by the October 7 deadline.

CH could then call him back next Wednesday to face the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Once again, we will not go into excessive detail, but this maneuver allows the CH to make significant savings. If the sum of the performance bonuses of the players in the squad to start the season is not high enough, the space that Sean Farrell would occupy, for example, if he is recalled during the year, would be 1 $.2 million instead of $897,500.
