This is called raising the sauce. The Spanish streaming platform Movistar+ has produced a three-episode documentary series dedicated to the Spanish coach of Paris Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique. Soberly titled “No teneis ni p*** idea” (“You don’t have a f… idea”), the series retraces Luis Enrique’s 2023-2024 season, his first at PSG.
Before the release of the 2nd episode, scheduled for Monday October 7, Movistar+ did a little teasing. In a carefully chosen extract broadcast on Thursday, we see the coach refocusing his star Kylian Mbappé, particularly on his defensive work, just before the return match of the Champions League quarter-finals between PSG and Barcelona, last April.
“I read that you liked Michael Jordan, Michael Jordan grabbed all his teammates by the a… and defended like a son of a b…” Luis Enrique said to his player, before taking a more aggressive tone.
“You are a phenomenon, a world-class player, no doubt about it,” continues the technician. But that’s not enough for me. A real leader is someone who can help you even if he doesn’t score. In attack, I have nothing to tell you. But you have to become the best player in history while defending. That’s a leader, that’s Michael Jordan. Is it good for you? Is everything clear?”
His words had visibly resonated, since PSG won 4-1 in the return match (after losing the first leg 3-2), including a double from Kylian Mbappé, and had validated their ticket for the semi-finals of the Champions League.
