Already ordered to pay the sum of 180,000 euros (more than 100 million CFA francs) by the Confederation of African Football, Samuel Eto’o’s troubles never end with the governing bodies of African and world football. After Caf, the president of the Cameroonian football federation now finds himself in the crosshairs of Fifa, which has just imposed a ban on him from attending matches of Cameroonian representative teams for a period of six months,
In its press release published on Monday, September 30, the supreme body of world football explains that its disciplinary committee sanctioned the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fécafoot), Samuel Eto’o, with a ban on attending matches representative teams of Cameroon for a period of six months, for “having violated articles 13 (offensive behavior and violation of the principles of fair play) and 14 (incorrectness of players and officials) of the disciplinary code” of Fifa.
Justifying its ban measure, Fifa adds that the sanction imposed is linked to the round of 16 of the U-20 Women’s World Cup which pitted Brazil against Cameroon in Bogotá (Colombia), on September 11, 2024. “The ban imposed on Mr Eto’o will prevent him from attending men’s and women’s football matches involving FECAFOOT representative teams, in any category or age group. The decision was notified to Mr Eto’o today, when the ban came into force”.
As we recall, the former Cameroonian international footballer was already fined 185,000 euros by Caf in July 2024 for having “violated the Caf statutes regarding ethics”.
