U17 Women’s World Cup: Gianni Infantino confirms the dates for the 2025 Moroccan edition

Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA, spoke about the 2025 edition of the U17 Women’s World Cup, the first with 24 teams, and which will be held in Morocco.

“Ladies and Gentlemen. I would like to confirm that the first edition of the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup, expanded to 24 national teams, will be held in Morocco from October 17 to November 8, 2025. Congratulations to Morocco. Dima Maghrib,” said the leader in a video sequence, published this Friday, October 4.

FIFA announced on Thursday March 14 that Morocco will organize five consecutive editions of the U17 Women’s World Cup.

Expanded to 24 participants, the competition will be held annually from the 2025 edition. Morocco will therefore organize the competition between 2025 and 2029, becoming the first African country to host it.

Host country of the 2030 World Cup, jointly with Spain and Portugal, Morocco is chosen by FIFA, while Qatar organizes the men’s version of the same competition, in the same years.

There have been seven editions of the competition in the past: in 2008 in New Zealand, in 2010 in Trinidad and Tobago, in Azerbaijan in 2012, in Costa Rica in 2014, in Jordan in 2016, in Uruguay in 2018 and in 2022 in India.

North Korea (2008 and 2016) and Spain (2018 and 2022) are the most successful.

Morocco participated in the last edition (elimination in the first round). Ghana and Nigeria (6 participations each) are the African teams with the most participations in this major event.
