Anderlecht’s feat in the Europa League: the Mauves win at Real Sociedad

Sporting Anderlecht achieved a feat by beating Real Sociedad 2-1 away on Matchday 2 of the Europa League, thanks to goals from Luis Vazquez and Theo Leoni.

Sporting Anderlecht achieved a prestigious success against Real Sociedad (1-2) on Thursday during the second day of the Europa League. The Brussels residents achieved the feat of defeating the Basques in their stadium, while Sociedad opened the scoring through Pablo Marin (5th). Goals from Luis Vazquez (28th) and Theo Leoni (39th) cooled Anoeta and won the three points.

The Spaniards picked Anderlecht cold. On a ball release, Leoni sent a difficult pass to Zanka, who missed his control. Umar Sadiq took the opportunity to shoot a cross to the far post, finished in one step by Marin (1-0, 5th) to the delight of the stadium.

Dominated, the Anderlecht residents nonetheless believed in their chances and Vazquez took advantage of a rare start to shine. Forgotten by the Basque defense, he was found by a pass in space from Anders Dreyer and sent a powerful shot beyond Alejandro Remiro (1-1, 28th).

About ten minutes later, it was a miraculous delivery from Leoni which allowed the Mauves to create the feat. Posted at the entrance to the area, the midfielder released an almost unreal volley which landed in the corner of the goal (1-2, 39th).

At the end of the match, Real Sociedad tried to lay siege to the Anderlecht area. If Coosemans had to work on a few opposing attempts, Sporting managed to prove dangerous on the counter-attack. However, the score no longer changed.

The RSCA has had an ideal start to the European campaign since it has 6 points after its first two matches. The Mauves won at home against the Hungarians of Ferencvaros (2-1), during the first day. So far, only Lazio and Tottenham have also won their first two games.
