Transfers / Top 14 – Florent Vanverberghe extends long-term contract at Castres Olympique

The CO announced the extension of its second line Florent Vanverberghe until 2028, present at the club since 2020. He played the first four matches of the season.

Happy news for Olympique: Florent Vanverberghe extends his contract for three more years. He is now committed to the CO until 2028. The second row, formerly from , arrived in Tarn in 2020. He immediately had playing time, playing 18 matches during his first season, then 26 and 24 the following two seasons. Since this summer, he has participated in all of his team’s matches, even starting in 3 of the 4 matches played.

I don’t want to be a passing player here

I love the club, the region, the supporters and the team, confided the solid second line on the club’s official website. The players have become my friends and the identity of the OC, which favors the collective, suits me well. This is my 5th season here, we had a common desire with the club to make a long-term commitment. I don’t want to be a passing player here. I am aware of all the work I still have to do but I want to give everything to progress and grow with the OC. The fervor, the atmosphere behind the team is incredible. I thank everyone who trusted me and who helped me feel good from my first moments here, like Mathieu Babillot, and I am very happy and proud to continue my adventure in Castres.”

With 93 matches on the clock, Vanverberghe is approaching the important milestone of 100 matches played in Castres. This big scrapper, a sure bet in manager Jeremy Davidson’s group, will in all likelihood begin the clash against Stade SATURDAY. With the injury to Tom Staniforth, the man who participated in the French XV’s tour of South America this summer, took an even more important place in the CO. “With the absence of Tom Staniforth, I am one of those who will have to take over”, he confirmed this summer. To bring down Stade Toulouse this weekend, the Tarnais will have to count on a great Vanverberghe.
