A fourth consecutive success to seek

After successes against SC Bern (3-2 AP), on the ice of the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers (2-3 TAB) and more recently against HC Bienne (2-1 TAB), Geoff Ward’s men aim to continue with a fourth success in a row and possibly with three points up for grabs. It is true that our players seem to be in better shape during previous meetings. Automation is more and more present with better offensive realism and defensive solidity.

However, the residents of the Vaudoise arena tend to have difficulties at the end of the match. at fault during the last three successes, our Lions have almost each time missed a victory in regulation time because of possibly avoidable penalties in the final moments. A lack of discipline which did not lead to defeats, but which does not help the LHC to ensure a complete victory in accounting terms.

Faced with the fourth most effective powerplay in the National League this season (26.32% success), Geoff Ward’s men will have to remain vigilant to avoid repeating these small errors which can have a big impact on the progress of the match.

If successful, the LHC would settle even more permanently above the bar. Currently fifth in the standings with 12 points in 7 matches, a victory against the team of Dan Tangnes would allow us to approach the next move on the ZSC Lions ice more calmly.

Lausanne HC (5th)

  • 7 matches played, 5 victories (including 1 in overtime and 2 on penalties) and 2 defeats
  • 19 goals scored and 16 goals conceded
  • 18.75% efficiency in powerplay and 73.91% efficiency in boxplay
  • 209 shots taken on goal (8.13% efficiency)

EV Zug (9èmes)

  • 6 matches played, 3 wins and 3 losses
  • 19 goals scored and 18 goals conceded
  • 26.32% efficiency in powerplay and 62.50% efficiency in boxplay
  • 204 shots taken on goal (9.31% efficiency)

Players to follow

The Lausanne first line holds its place at the start of the season. Ahti Oksanen, Damien Riat and Antti Suomela currently occupy the top three spots in the LHC’s top scorers. Scorer last Tuesday, it is our number 11 who will wear the PostFinance Top Scorer jersey with 7 points scored (including 3 goals). Excellent against HC Bienne, Kevin Pasche did not come far from his first shutout of the season against Gaetan Haas’ teammates. Author of 31 saves in the game (96.88% save rate), our goalkeeper was in all the right shots during the penalty shootout with 4 shots blocked.

On the EV Zug side, danger can come from almost any line. Just arrived from HC Bienne, Mike Künzle have had a great start to the season with already 7 points on the clock in 6 matches played (including 4 goals scored). Lined up alongside Sven Senteler and the young Attilio Biascathe 30-year-old Swiss international striker will be THE player to watch this Friday on the ice at the Vaudoise Arena. The new attackers with foreign licenses Fredrik Olofsson (5 points) and Daniel Vozenilek (4 points) will also be up close for their first meeting in the Lions’ den with EV Zug.
