Lionel Messi is back. At 37, the Argentinian is on Lionel Scaloni’s list for the two upcoming matches against Venezuela and Bolivia, in qualifying for the next World Cup. Injured in the ankle during the Copa America final last summer, the former Parisian missed Argentina’s last meeting in mid-September.

Martinez suspended, Rulli starts

After missing the start of the season with Inter Miami, Messi returned to the field on September 15. He has since played four matches, scoring three goals and providing an assist.

On the other hand, Lionel Scaloni must cope without Emiliano Martinez, suspended due to his behavior considered inappropriate during the last rally. It is therefore Geronimo Rulli, the OM goalkeeper, who should start in goal during the next two matches. A golden opportunity for the Marseillais to shine.

Two other Phocaeans also appear in the list: Leonardo Balerdi and Valentin Carboni. The Lyonnais Nicolas Tagliafico is also summoned.
