With a resounding 6-0 victory, the Portuguese international moved dangerously close to the record for goals in a single season in the Saudi championship. The 39-year-old striker, who had already scored twice in the semi-final of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, opened the scoring in the 5th minute after an error by the opposing goalkeeper. He then doubled the lead with a header in the 12th minute from a cross from Marcelo Brozović. Cristiano Ronaldo was not the only Portuguese player to shine in this match: Otávio also found the net with a refined lob, served by Sadio Mané.

Ronaldo aims for Hamdallah record

Al-Nassr’s domination was complete, and Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammates continued to press, culminating in a third goal for the star in the 52nd minute. Mohammed Al Fatil completed the scoring with a sixth goal late in the game. This hat-trick brings the Portuguese’s total to 32 goals in the Saudi Pro League this season, just two units from the record of 34 goals held by Abderrazak Hamdallah since 2019.

This exceptional performance comes as Al-Nassr, already qualified for the King Cup final, continues its quest to conclude the championship on a positive note, despite finishing second behind undisputed leader Al-Hilal. Cristiano Ronaldo, as determined as ever, now has four games ahead of him to try to break the goalscoring record and add another milestone to his legendary career.
