Worry gave way to relief. Saturday May 4, Jeff Reine-Adelaïde lost consciousness a little before half-time after receiving a ball in the face during the meeting between his club Molenbeek and Charleroi in the relegation playoff of the Belgian championship. Unconscious for ten minutes and with a bloody face, he was evacuated on a stretcher.
” More fear than harm “
After the match, a brain hemorrhage was suspected for the 26-year-old, who transferred from Olympique Lyonnais to Molenbeek last summer. “We won’t see him on the pitch again this season but above all we hope that everything goes well for him” his coach Yannick Ferreira reacted after the match lost 3-1 by his team.
According to L’Equipe, who contacted those around him, the player would have passed reassuring exams. The Frenchman would only suffer from a concussion and the fear of possible after-effects has been ruled out. Reine-Adelaïde also wanted to reassure on her Instagram account: “Thank you for your messages of support, more fear than harm”, he wrote. Molenbeek should communicate during the day of this Sunday, May 5.
